About Ministry Grounds Coffee
This online store is an extension of Ministry Grounds - my coffee blog.
It's where I offer high quality green coffee beans for home roasters, and the same beans roasted to order.
The quality of the coffee I offer is paramount. I either personally cup each coffee before buying it, or I purchase on the recommendation of highly regarded coffee cuppers.
WIth my roasted coffee, I roast only to order. That means the roaster isn't fired up without orders sitting on the bench. The proof of that is in the packaging, which has the roast date printed on each individual bag that leaves here. You won't find that on supermarket coffee!

I'm also very committed to many of the ethical, socially and environmental programs that encourage good farming practices and good financial returns to growers and their workers. But the coffee has to be good too. It seems counter-intuative to prop up a poor quality product with high prices that it doesn't warrant.
So you will find many Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, Utz Certified and directly traded coffees here - but also a number of very good coffees that are not attached to one of those programs. You can read more about the pros and cons of certification programs here, but the common denominator is great quality for the price bracket.
Trading ethically also means ensuring all Ministry Grounds business dealings are carried out with courtesy, honesty and equity. If you ever feel that you have not been treated in that manner, please do communicate that to me so a suitable resolution can be worked out.
This is all huge fun, but it is very much a hobby business fitted in around my very full-time occupation of a Christian pastor at a large evangelical church here on the Blue Mountains, just west of Sydney, Australia. And that means sometimes short delays between you placing your order and me shipping it - but the wait is worthwhile!
Like lots of things in life (including following Jesus), appreciating fine coffee is a journey, so the more I taste and roast, the more I realise how little I really know about these things! But that said, I enjoy sharing what I do know about coffee (and Jesus).
Which is why this is fundamentally a non-profit exercise, and run out of love for fine coffee and a desire to spread that to others.
