Special Reserve Roasted

Special Reserve coffees are almost exclusively sourced from Mercanta. They are the finest coffees from single farms, estates and co-operatives around the coffee producing world. These are distinctive and superior beans that stand on their own without blending and reflect the profile of a region as well as coffees that challenge and surprise us.A selection of some of the world's best single origin coffees roasted to draw out their unique varietal characteristics. All of these coffees are fairly and ethically traded beans, either through Mercanta or through our own contacts.

Packaging. All roasted beans are packed in zip lock, one-way valve coffee pouches, and are available in 250g, 500g and 1000g sizes.

Ground coffee? Not a problem! All roasted coffee here is available ground for plunger/percolator or drip/stovetop. Read more about the pros and cons of pre-grinding here

Costa Rica Finca Las Lajas Organic

This mircolot is a "miel" or "honey" coffee, meaning that some of the fruit is allowed to dry on the parchment layer on the patio. It actually looks quite unimpressive as green coffee, but roasts up evenly and has a clean, sweet flavor profile.

Cupping profile and tasting notes:
Orange citrus acidity. Pronounced sweetness and notes of blackcurrants. Very syrupy, perfumed, and treacly with long lingering finish

All roasted coffee is packed in sealed, ono-way valve foil bags for maximum freshness.

Nicaragua Los Altos

Los Altos farm is situated at an altitude of around 1,200-1,300m in the Matagalpa department of central Nicaragua.

Cupping profile and tasting notes
Fresh, very sweet, with sugar cane and syrup. Soft acidity, very well balanced and smooth with juicy mouth-feel and notes of molasses and dark chocolate. Very suitable for espresso.

Brazil Rodomunho

This coffee is from Alto Paranaíba, the highest part of the Cerrado region, near the town of Rio Paranaíba in the state of Minas Gerais. Fazenda Rodomunho extends over a total area of 450 hectares. Of these, 316 hectares are planted with over 1 million coffee trees producing an average of 14,000 bags per year.

Cupping profile and tasting notes
Extremely well- balanced, consistent coffee, with creamy, smooth, cocoa notes. A classic ‘canvas’ coffee that makes a solid espresso component. Full bodied and low acidity.
